Starting this year's updates to my old Jam games, here is a small update to Maslow's Flamethrower. Most changes were refactoring awful code into something easier to maintain, but here is a list of the most relevant updates:
- Added Main Menu and Pause menu
- Reworked Game UI
- Redid jump/run mechanics, added coyote time
- Reworked burst shot physics
- Fixed spikes hurting when jumping. Now hurt only when falling into them.
- Redid melted door sprites
- Fuel tanks are now spent more quickly
- Snow balls now do more damage
These are some of the planned changes for future versions:
- Redo all characters' sprites and animations
- Use IK for aiming
- Sound and music
- Make source code available
- Add more enemy types and bosses at the end of the stages
- Extend existing levels, Add 3 more levels.
- Add at least 2 more upgrades for the flamethrower
- Add intro, cut-scenes and ending
